We engage in efforts to prevent disease and enable individuals and families to protect themselves with the help of vital information, available treatment and advice. Over 93% of deaths in our towns and villages are attributable to preventable or treatable diseases such as malaria, measles, diarrhoea, meningitis, malnutrition, and now, increasingly, HIV/AIDS. In Cameroon, for example, only about 7% of Government expenditure goes to public health, and curative approaches tend to get priority over preventive methods in its allocation. Inefficiency and mismanagement characterize several of the available services in the health care system, making access difficult and even worthless. We work out options, develop and advocate plans to improve response from various stakeholders, increase provision and orient health care towards prevention of disease and illness.
