We are committed, as a research and policy education institution, to:

• Investigating the interrelations between human rights and freedoms issues;

• Supporting implementation of human rights and freedoms enshrined in various national and international instruments; and,

• Advocating reform of instruments as and when necessary.

Here, Cameroon is a particular case study for us in the international community. The country is far from having one of the world's enviable human rights and freedoms records, even as it now has a National Human Rights and Freedoms Commission. Efforts to address the situation face the enormous challenges in clarifying the interrelations between human rights and freedom issues and persuading people and their organizations including government agencies to understand the relationships and act on them.

We work on these and related issues, helping to bring about changes in the civil, political, economic and social including educational, cultural and legal infrastructures that foster or perpetuate abuses of human rights and freedoms.
