The Library and Documentation Unit is highly specialized and central to EITD Research activities, providing an invaluable resource of knowledge. It comprises a current collection of over 4000 different titles of reference text on the wide range of subjects related to enterprise, industries, technology and development. These include mathematics, economics, agriculture, sociology, finance, food, psychology, engineering, management, production, electronics, physics, education, biology, chemistry, communication, and literature. More than 120 periodicals including professional journals are taken, together with a substantial collection of maps and trade catalogues representing the products of many manufacturers and audio-visual materials. Specially selected papers and pamphlets are collected on a routine basis. The whole stock is catalogued and computerized to ease access to information. Apart from being primarily a research facility, the EITD Research Library and Documentation Unit now offers a range of special information services to individuals, businesses and organisations. These include: Current Awareness (CA). Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) Audio-visuals (AV). The Library and Documentation Unit is also actively involved in on-going EITD Research Library Resources Development progarmme, which promotes the establishment and operation of libraries and Information Communication Technologies in schools and communities. The programme now involves more than 80 schools in and around Kumba. Current Awareness (CA): The Library and Documentation Unit serves clients with information on a wide range of subjects including old and new products, periodical contents, planned accessions, services, and a variety of other news and developments from within Cameroon and around the world. Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI): Clients with specific information demands discuss their information situation and needs with the Unit's professionals. They then engage the necessary resources and seek out the relevant information, which is passed-on with advice to the client. Audio-visuals (AV): A range of sound, picture and print media are employed to develop and communicate client messages and information concerning their projects, products and/or services.
